It has a natural resilience that helps it maintain a smooth appearance, even after being folded or stretched. This makes scuba fabric a popular choice for travel-friendly clothing and garments that require minimal maintenance.
Scuba fabric also can be applied in some functions, such as wicking, resistant to wear and tear, and water-resistant.

Modal, derived from beech tree pulp, boasts softness and eco-friendliness, making it a sought-after choice for comfort-focused clothing.

On the other hand, nylon, a synthetic material made from petrochemicals, excels in stretchability, durability, and versatility, making it a preferred option for sportswear and outdoor gear.

Scuba fabric is a more fashionable version of double knit fabric. Both interlock and scuba are made from interlock circular machines. While scuba is designed to be used for fashionable clothing as well as clothing that needs to be technical but still fashionable- such as dance clothing and sportswears due to its special specifications such as high stretchability and warmth retaining property.

Scuba fabric is a type of double knit made from polyester/ spandex or other blended composition such as polyeter/viscose, polyester/modal, viscose/ nylon, etc, with a very fine gauge thread, and smooth texture. It has a good stretchability and a smoothy hand feeling and also draps well.

Scuba material does have a variety of end uses but is almost exclusively used for fashion, as this is why it was created. It is definitely favor for some types of garments over others though. Form-fitting dresses and swaying skirts, as well as sports clothing, are very popular and wildly be used.

It is, in fact, a double knit fabric, like a Ponte Roma – however, it would be unfair to compare the two as they are often made from different compositions. Differs from before, now Scuba fabrics have much more different compositions. Polyester, polyester/viscose are the regular ones, besides these, they can also be polyester/nylon, polyester/modal, modal/nlyon and so on. Whilst Ponte Roma fabrics are usually from viscose and lycra.

Scuba is generally used to make dance-wear, leggings and dresses (think of evening or party dresses) and is quite easy to care for.

Elastane interlock knit fabrics are different than your traditional knit fabric. This polyester fabric is a variation of rib knit construction. The nature of interlock fabric construction makes it have built-in stretch and makes it drapes well on the body. In this case, polyester interlock is even better with this type of fabric due to the front and back being identical. This interlock fabric creates the impression that the fabric is comprised of two layers though they can't be separated.

Interlock knit fabrics are mainly produced on specially designed circular double jersey machines called interlock machines.
They are high speed, multi-feeders with closed cam track machines.
The common gauges for interlock fabrics are 20-28 npi, using 1/32 Ne cotton or 1/40 Nm worsted yarns and 75d, 100d, 150d filament.

Interlock has the technical face of plain fabric on both sides, but its smooth surface cannot be stretched out to reveal the reverse meshed loop wales because the wales on each side are exactly opposite to each other and are locked together.

Interlock jersey is in fact a double jersey, with a smooth surface on each side. The wales of the interlock fabric on each side are alternated, with the back loops knitted together. This means both sides of an interlock jersey will look the same. Again, interlock fabric refers to the structure of the double knit.
